The grills are non-stick coated and clean up can almost be done with wiping with a damp paper towel after cooling. The hinged lid accomodates varying thickness.
I anticipated using it mostly for panini sandwiches but am thrilled with it's versatility. I am so satisfied with this appliance.
The sandwiches are the best and cetainly elevates this common food into a special meal. The ability to control the temperature is nice.from low through medium to hight to sear. I've grilled marinated chicken breasts several times.it takes only about 6 minutes and the end result not only looks beautiful with the grill marks but is exceedingly tender and juicy.
I also tried strip steaks which I overcooked slightly for my taste, but I am sure my next try will be more what I'm after. The grease drip pan is a great feature as are the removable grills.
The appliance in general is a nice weight and seems well made. After just 2 weeks of use I wonder how I got along without one, particularly during the winter months where I miss grilling out.a definite "best buy" in my book.
I never hesitate to pull this out to grill anything. A godsend when the weather is unruly and my husband doesn't want to fire up the outdoor grill. It browns food nicely. We can pop the plates into the dishwater with the dirty dishes as it cools off by the time we finish eating.
I got the Griddler last year for Christmas, and it's one kitchen gadget that I get a lot of use from. I find no matter how dried on the food is, if I soak in a mixture of hot water and a little dishwasher detergent (Cascade), the crud comes right off without scouring. It makes fantastic pannini, grilled cheese, burgers, chicken breasts, steaks on the grill, and pancakes on the griddle portion. I love the fact that the cooking plates come off for cleaning. I try to avoid scouring, as I want the finish to last. I am addicted to kitchen appliances, and this is one that really gets some use, and isn't hiding in the closet.
I received this item for Christmas 2009 and absolutely love it. What a wonderful tool. We had a New Years Eve party and I made 16 Cuban sandwiches on it and they came out fantastic. I have also made filet mignon, grilled ham and cheese, turkey panini, and this morning we used the griddle function for the first time to make blueberry pancakes, eggs, and bacon. I had intended to keep it in the pantry, but it gets used so much we keep it out. I highly recommend this item, especially considering the easy clean-up.
Not only does it look good, but it works well too. Has many uses. and goes well with all my other Cuisinart stuff.
